Accra, Aug. 29, GNA – More than 35 aspirants have filed nominations to contest various positions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executive elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.
The elections will cover nine national executive positions, with three of the four Vice-Chairperson slots to be designated First, Second and Third Vice-Chairpersons, bringing the total number of national executive positions to 11.
The positions are National Chairman, Vice-Chairpersons, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Communications Director, National Treasurer, National Youth Organiser and National Nasara Organiser.
Four aspirants are contesting the National Chairmanship, namely former Chairman Paul Afoko, former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and Sammy Crabbe.
Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, the incumbent General Secretary seeking re-election, will face former Subin Member of Parliament (MP) Eugene Boakye Antwi, former Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena.
The Vice-Chairperson race has attracted 13 aspirants, including incumbent National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah, former Kumasi Mayor Sam Pyne, former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and Nana Akomea, Chairman of the NPP Communications Committee.
The other aspirants are Kojo Fosu Boadu, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amposah Frimpong, Richard Oti Aboagye and Bright Esselfie Kumi.
Eight aspirants are contesting the National Organiser position: Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, incumbent National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha, Kwame Prempeh, Archibald Korleytey Gamor, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, Nana Kwadjo Agyei Yeboah, Daniel Agyenim Boateng and Ali Maiga Halidu.
The National Communications Director contest is a two-horse race between Dennis Miracles Aboagye and Evan Kodo following the withdrawal of Gordon Asare Bediako.
Four aspirants are contesting the National Treasurer position: Alfred Kojo Thompson, Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin and Ahmed Ruka Saida.
The National Women’s Organiser position has three aspirants: former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Mavis Hawa Koomson, Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada and Safia Mohammed.
Six aspirants are contesting the National Youth Organiser position: Clement Opoku Gyamfi, Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, Michael Osei Boateng, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, Kumi Alfred Ababio and Abanga Fuseini Yakubu.
Five aspirants are contesting the National Nasara Organiser position: Issaka Muazo Kunata, Salim Bamba, Razak Tahiru Maiga, Awal Mohammed and Mohammed Ali Suraj.
The party has scheduled the vetting of aspirants for August 31 and September 1, with the national executive elections set for October 3, 2026.
