Casablanca, May 05, GNA – Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Morocco and Dott Medical to accelerate the development of telemedicine and modernise primary healthcare facilities across the country.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the maiden GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco 2026 in Casablanca, aims to establish an integrated framework for deploying innovative digital health solutions and strengthening healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved areas.

The signing, presided over by Mr Amine Tehraoui, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, forms part of Morocco’s broader health sector reform agenda, aligned with the vision of King Mohammed VI to achieve universal health coverage and expand social protection.

It also reflects efforts to accelerate digital transformation as a key pillar for strengthening health sovereignty and improving access to quality care.

Under the agreement, the partners will jointly design and implement an integrated telemedicine solution tailored to the specific needs of Morocco’s healthcare system.

The initiative is expected to enhance patient care, improve access to medical services in remote and rural communities, and optimise the use of healthcare resources.

The collaboration will combine advanced telecommunications infrastructure from Huawei Technologies Morocco with specialised medical equipment provided by Dott Medical and ensure compliance with national regulatory and data protection standards.

The agreement also includes capacity building through specialised training programmes for healthcare professionals and technical staff.

A pilot project will be launched to evaluate the solution’s technical, clinical, and operational effectiveness before nationwide rollout.

The Minister reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to safeguarding personal health data and securing sensitive information systems, underscoring the importance of digital and health sovereignty in the reform process.

The initiative is a significant leap towards positioning Morocco as a regional leader in health innovation, digital infrastructure, and clinical research, with long-term benefits for public health and citizen well-being.
