Mankranso (Ash), Jun 24, GNA – The Ahafo Ano South-West District Assembly in the Ashanti Region made significant strides in its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) mobilization drive for the year 2025.
The Assembly mobilized an amount of GHS 994,512.76, out of the targeted GHS 940,000.00, representing 106 percent of the budgeted amount.
Mr. Sedik Abubakar, the District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this at his sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Mankranso.
The Assembly, however, fell short in its share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund (DACF) receipts.
The Assembly received GHS 10,988,938.52, representing 49.9 percent, of the expected GHS 21,986,925.97 from the DACF.
Similarly, expected funds from central government to be distributed for the various departments of the Assembly was supposed to be GHS 93,500.00, but the assembly received and disbursed an amount of GHS 31,390.48, representing 33.57 percent to the various departments.
Highlighting on good governance, accountability, social services, economic development, infrastructure and environmental management, the DCE mentioned the provision of security, health and educational facilities, agriculture, transportation, electrification, water, sanitation among other projects and programmes within the communities.
Some of the beneficiary communities were Mpasaso, Wioso, Barniekrom, Afreseni, Muawano, Dotiem, Asuabena, Oseikrom, Boakyekrom, Domeabra, Ango, Asuokor, Agyeibikrom, Asuofua, Bonkrom, Bonkwaso and Mankranso.
The rest are Adadekrom, Achiase, Beposo, Dunyan Nkwanta, Abodease, Boatengkrom, Akwasiworo, Anitemfe, Manhyia, Kunsu, Akwasi Marfo, Kramokrom, Dajanso, Asikantia, Koonsiakrom, Kwabenakonto, Besease, Nyehwee, Yawhene among others.
He also mentioned the disbursement of GHS 928,052 to 374 Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) beneficiaries, start-up funds and equipment for 86 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and the provision of meals to 11, 975 pupils under the school feeding program.
Other interventions included the renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for 1,873 persons and the distribution of 9,516 broiler and layer poultry birds under the ‘Nkoko nkete nkete’ program over the period.
Under environmental management, the DCE announced that the ‘Tree for Life’ Reforestation Initiative, Disaster Prevention, Ghana Productive Safety Net Program and Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development and other governmental interventions were executed.
Mr Abubakar urged the Assembly members to collaborate and work together with all stakeholders to accelerate the development of the district.
