Nkwanta (O/R), June 24, GNA- Mrs. Juliana Awasan, the Assembly Member for Keri South Electoral in the Nkwanta South Municipality, has appealed for peace, unity and restraint following the reoccurred shooting in Keri and Odomi that have claimed lives and heightened tensions in the area.
In a press release, the Assembly Member expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incidents and extended her condolences to the bereaved families.
She described the loss of lives as painful and regrettable, stressing that no family should have to endure such grief.
She also noted that the ongoing conflict continues to have serious consequences for residents, including loss of lives, displacement, disruption of livelihoods, and growing insecurity.
The Assembly Member emphasised that the welfare of affected families, particularly women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, must remain a priority.
Mrs. Awasan urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and embrace dialogue as the most effective means of resolving their differences.
According to her, peace, mutual respect and unity are essential to restoring stability and protecting communities within the municipality.
She also commended the efforts of the security services, the Regional Minister, Municipal Chief Executive, traditional authorities, youth groups, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and peace advocates for their contributions towards maintaining law and order and promoting reconciliation.
She further called on stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in finding a lasting solution to the conflict.
The Assembly Member also encouraged the youth to reject violence and become ambassadors of peace and understanding in their communities.
She expressed optimism that through collective effort, trust can be rebuilt, harmony restored, and a peaceful future secured for the people of the municipality.
