“Holy Spirit empowers women to transform society”

By Daniel Agbesi Latsu, GNA

Ho (V/R), May 11, GNA-Mrs Christiana Agbove, wife of the Bankoe District Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christian women to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to transform their homes, churches, and society through prayer, fasting and godly living.

She said the Church derives its strength and foundation from the Holy Spirit and stressed that believers must continually wait upon God through prayer and fasting to receive divine direction and empowerment.

Mrs Agbove made the call during the climax of the National Women’s Week celebration at the Fiave Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Municipality.

The event was held on the theme: “Women Unleashed to Transform Society Through the Power of the Holy Spirit.”

Preaching from Acts 13:1–3, she recounted how the Holy Spirit instructed the leaders of the church in Antioch to set apart Barnabas and Saul for God’s work while they were praying and fasting.

She explained that the passage demonstrates the importance of spiritual devotion and obedience to God’s direction.

“The Holy Spirit carries power, and those who possess Him live holy lives and walk in boldness without fear,” she said.

Mrs Agbove noted that motherhood goes beyond giving birth, explaining that many women play nurturing and mentoring roles in society and are therefore worthy of recognition as mothers.

She urged mothers to pray consistently for their children and speak positively about their lives and destinies.

According to her, mothers must also be spiritually discerning and guide their children to know Christ because true transformation begins with salvation.

“Before we seek to transform society, we must first transform our homes. A godly home produces a transformed society,” she stated.

Mrs Agbove, who is also a Deaconess of the Church, encouraged believers to live exemplary lives and pursue peace with all people in society.

Referring to the biblical story of Esther, she said prayer and godly influence could bring transformation in every environment.

She explained that Esther, through fasting and prayer, introduced the worship of God into the palace and positively influenced her generation.

Quoting Zechariah 4:6, Mrs Agbove said: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty,” stressing that lasting transformation can only be achieved through the Holy Spirit.

She called on Christian women to remain steadfast in the faith and become agents of positive change wherever they found themselves.
