Sunyani, (Bono), May 18, GNA-The Glomacx STEM Initiatives, the social enterprise arm of the Litmus Books Publishing has presented Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) books to an 11-year-old student of the Sunyani Miracle Junior High School.
Glomacx is partnering with the Npontu Technologies Limited to support the beneficiary, Miss Blessed Ofori, a form one student to advance in the study of STEM.
Ofori is the first recipient of the package after her exceptional performance during a two-day STEM training programme organised by the school in Sunyani.
She received a variety of books comprising computer science, informatics, information systems, web analytics, and the millennial fashion revolution.
Speaking at a presentation ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Mark Godfred Domah, the Sunyani Municipal Education Director of Education said STEM education had evolved becoming a global trend and reshaping learning systems.
He commended the company for the gesture and urged them to expand its support to cover more schools, and appealed to other organisations and corporate bodies to emulate by contributing towards improving STEM education in schools.
Mr Domah said he was highly optimistic that the gesture would inspire the beneficiary to study to achieve high academic laurels.
Established in 2025, Ms Gloria Jubi, the Founder of Glomacx STEM Initiatives explained that her outfit had impacted more than 250 students across four schools in the municipality, comprising the Miracle JHS, Oxford SHS, Ideal College and Abesim SHS.
She said the Initiative sought to advance STEM education by providing relevant learning materials to good students, saying that Glomacx STEM Initiatives was also actively seeking support to distribute STEM books to students.
Ms Jubi observed that though many brilliant students had been identified in some schools, the beneficiary’s age, commitment and seriousness towards STEM education made her outstanding and a role model for other students.
Mr Philemon Tetteh, the Headmaster of the Miracle JHS, called for investment in educational materials and STEM-related books to help the students, especially girls, to study science-related subjects and thereby pursue careers in science.
On her part, Ofori thanked the donors for the gesture, saying the books would aid her studies and deepen her understanding of science-related subjects.
