Daboya, (S/R), May 16, GNA – The Wasipe Traditional Council in the North Gonja District have assured the government of its support and cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of development interventions in the area.
It said the return of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to government there had been renewed hope among residents and accelerated development in the area.
Tandawura Alhaji Mohammed Amin, who spoke on behalf of the Chiefs, gave the assurance when Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the NDC, paid a courtesy call on the Wasipewura as part of his “Thank You Tour” of the Savannah Region.
The tour is part of initiatives by the NDC party to appreciate the people of the region for their support that secured victory for the party in the 2024 general elections.
He commended the leadership of the NDC-led government for the many development projects and interventions ongoing in the country.
“Under your leadership and that of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana has become a construction site.
Roads are being opened, projects are restarting and hope is restored in our communities”, Tandawura Amin explained.
He said the people in the area were already witnessing significant infrastructure development, including the commencement of a long-awaited bridge project in Wasipe, construction of a new College of Education, and a hospital theatre project, among others.
He said the bridge, for instance, had been dear to the people of Wasipe for over 60 years, and that its completion would connect the people, open up trade and enhance mobility in the area.
On health, Tandawura Amin described the posting of a medical doctor to the Wasipe Health Centre for the first time as a “game changer” for healthcare delivery in the area.
He, however, appealed to the government to address the poor road network in the area, as the North Gonja District remained one of the few districts in the country without a kilometre of tarred road.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Nketiah said the government was determined to tackle the longstanding under development in the area and expressed hope that the district would witness major transformation within the next four years.
He assured the people that construction of the road would begin after the bridge construction had been completed.
Mr Nketiah urged party supporters to remain patient and support the government’s development agenda instead of focusing on personal gains.
He commended branch executives of the party for their efforts during the election campaign, which led the party to victory in the election.
Mr Abdulai Nashiru, the North Gonja District Chief Executive, said the district was witnessing rapid infrastructure development under the President John Dramani Mahama-led government.
He mentioned some of the interventions in the district to include a 24-hour economy market project, classroom blocks, health facilities and skills development initiatives for the youth, among others.
