BECE progressing steadily in Keta Municipality

Keta (VR), May 07, GNA-The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is progressing steadily across the Keta Municipality, with candidates writing their papers under calm and orderly conditions.   

The Ghana News Agency, monitoring the conduct of the examination, observed that the seven designated examination centres-Ketasco, Aborsco, Anyasco, Atiasec, Afiasec, Ketasbusco and Kedzi AME Zion Basic in the municipality were opened on schedule from Monday, May 3 with no major incidents reported since the start of the exercise.   

Reverend David Dzikunu, the examination Supervisors at Ketabusco and other invigilators at the various centres, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, confirmed that candidates had settled in well and were conducting themselves in accordance with examination regulations.   

Mr Ferdinand Amuzu, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Keta Ghana Education Service, said that logistics and examination materials were delivered on time to all the centres.   

He said security personnel had been deployed to all the centre on time to ensure the safety of candidates, teachers, and examination officials throughout the five-day exercise.   

“Everything is going smoothly. Our candidates are focused, and the environment is conducive for them to give of their best,” he said. 

Benjamin Asigbui, a candidate who spoke to the GNA, expressed confidence about his preparation and determination to make his schools and parents proud.   

Some other students and teachers in the Municipality also commended the GES and the Keta Municipal Assembly for providing the needed support ahead of the examination.   

Madam Ami Kumedzro, a parent, and other guardians, said they were hopeful that the candidates would perform well and secure placements in senior high schools of their choice.   

The Keta Municipal Assembly said it would continue to monitor the process to ensure a hitch-free examination until the last paper is written on Friday. 

A total of 1,350 candidates (546 boys and 552 girls) from 43 and 11 public and private schools respectively, were writing the BECE in the Keta municipality.
