Dambai (O/R) May 7, GNA- Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nkwanta South, has cut sod for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Jumbo, a farming community in the municipality.

The project forms part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and enhance living conditions for residents in the area.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to mark the commencement of the project, Mr Antwi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved communities as part of efforts to ensure equitable primary healthcare delivery across the country.

He disclosed that the facility, when completed, would comprise an Outpatient Department (OPD), a labour ward, and nurses’ quarters.

According to the MCE, the provision of residential accommodation for health workers would ensure their availability to respond promptly to emergencies and other health-related cases including at night

Mr Antwi said construction work was expected to begin within a week and projected that the facility would be completed and handed over within six months.

He appealed to residents of Jumbo to cooperate with the contractor and assist in safeguarding construction materials to prevent theft and any acts that could delay the project.

The Chief of Jumbo, Ubor Lasoon Charles, expressed appreciation to the government, the Member of Parliament of the area, Mr Geoffrey Kini, and the MCE for initiating the project.

He described the construction of the CHPS Compound as a major and long-awaited intervention that would significantly improve access to healthcare services for the people of the community.

The chief pledged the community’s commitment to protect and maintain the facility for the benefit of present and future generations.
