Assin Ngyresi (C/R), May 15, GNA- Qualified and eligible candidates of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have started picking nomination forms at the party’s office at Assin Ngyresi in the Assin South Constituency to contest for positions in the 129 branch executives’ election.
All expenses on the filing fees have been fully covered by Rev Kojo Odame, the Executive Director of Kojo Odame Mission Assin (KOMA).
Mr Thomas Cobbinah, the Constituency Chairman of the Party told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the party’s reorganisation roadmap and branch elections were scheduled to take place between May 20 and June 30, 2026 as a bottom-up electoral process that would culminate in the election of national executives in December 19, 2026.
Rev Odame donated an amount of GH¢50,000 to the Constituency, of which GH¢30,000 of the amount was to be used for the purchase of nomination forms for all branch executive aspirants.
An amount of GH¢10,000 was allocated to the Constituency Election Directorate to enhance logistics and human resource and another GH¢10,000 to facilitate the supervision of the elections.
Rev Odame said the decision to absorb the cost of filing fees for all aspirants reflected the party’s commitment to equity and internal cohesion.
Rev Odame added that the gesture was expected to ease the financial burden on branch executives, motivate them to remain active and ultimately enhance the party’s organisational effectiveness at the grassroots level.
He described the move as both strategic and necessary to sustain the party’s unity and morale ahead of future political activities.
The NDC, he stated, would win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the constituency in 2028.
