Ho (V/R), Oct. 23, GNA – Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor, a criminal investigator with the Ghana Police Service and an author of books on criminal investigation, has been called to the Ghana Bar, marking a significant milestone in his professional and academic journey.
He was among more than 1,500 newly qualified lawyers called to the Bar on Friday, October 9, at a ceremony held at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Christ Temple East, Teshie, in Accra.
Detective Sergeant Amevor, author of ‘Criminal Investigation in Ghana: Practice and Procedure’ and other publications, said his journey to becoming a lawyer had been long and challenging but ultimately rewarding.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the process required considerable sacrifice, commitment and perseverance, adding that the knowledge and experience gained throughout the journey had made the effort worthwhile.
His call to the Bar adds professional legal training to his experience in criminal investigation and authorship, fields that intersect in the administration of justice, the gathering of evidence and the application of legal procedures.
As a criminal investigator, his professional experience in law enforcement, coupled with his legal education, provides a foundation for a broader understanding of the relationship between criminal investigation and the justice system.
His book, Criminal Investigation in Ghana: Practice and Procedure, reflects his interest in documenting investigative practices and procedures within the Ghanaian context. His other publications also contribute to his work as an author alongside his policing career.
The Anlo Secondary School Old Students Association (ANSSOSA Global) has congratulated Lawyer Amevor on his achievement, describing it as a source of pride to the association and its members.
Lawyer Amevor is an alumnus of Anlo Senior High School, where he completed his secondary education in 2007.
Before entering secondary school, he attended Kedzi A.M.E. Zion Basic School in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, completing his basic education in 2004.
He subsequently pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration at the University of Ghana before obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law School.
He then gained admission to the Ghana School of Law at Makola, Accra, where he undertook his professional legal training and obtained the Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification.
His academic progression from administration to law, alongside his career in criminal investigation, demonstrates his pursuit of additional professional knowledge and development.
His achievement has drawn recognition from his former school community, with ANSSOSA Global expressing pride in his accomplishment and congratulating him on reaching the milestone.
The call to the Bar represents a new chapter in Lawyer Amevor’s professional journey, bringing together his experience in policing, legal education and authorship.
