Somanya (E/R), April 22, GNA – Inclusive Tech Group, in partnership with UNESCO, UGBS, GIKACE and others, have donated laptops and tablets to 13 women with disabilities in Somanya to enhance digital skills and economic opportunities.

The support forms part of the Digital Access and Rural Empowerment (DARE) Project under Intervention Three, focused on rural young mothers’ economic empowerment.

Funded by the Mastercard Foundation and partners, the initiative targets women aged 15 to 35, helping them acquire skills and transition into work.

Mr Joseph Aboagye, Project Coordinator for Inclusive Tech Group, said 100 women with disabilities were trained in digital marketing and entrepreneurship between June and November 2025, with 13 selected based on performance and readiness to apply their skills.

Mr Richmond AttaWilliams, DARE Project Officer at UNESCO, said the intervention was designed to ensure participants move from learning to earning, enabling them to participate meaningfully in the economy.

He added that while 13 women received devices, the broader aim was to support all trainees toward sustainable livelihoods.

Plans are underway to extend the initiative to Bekwai and Gushegu municipalities.

A beneficiary, Ms Mary Oduro Dede, expressed gratitude, noting that the training improved her skills in Microsoft Office and social media marketing.

She said the device would help her generate income and improve her standard of living.
