Adaklu Dawanu (V/R), March 10, GNA – Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Adaklu, on Monday presented some food items to the Muslim community in the Adaklu District.

The items include bags of rice, sugar, Lipton teabags and Nido milk powder.

Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), who presented the items on behalf of the Minister, stated that the donation was his annual support to Muslims in the Adaklu district during their holy month of Ramadan.

He said: “The fasting by our Muslim brothers during Ramadan is not only for their personal spiritual gain and edification but also a time which they sacrificed themselves to pray for the nation Ghana.”

The DCE appealed to Muslims and other religious bodies to always remember the country in their prayers.

“Pray fervently for the nation and her leaders,” Mr Ameko said.

He urged them to unite and work to promote the development drive of the country and peace in their communities.

Mr Ameko, on behalf of President John Mahama, Mr Agbodza and the people of Adaklu wished them a successful Ramadan.

He said he was hopeful that they would come out of the fasting stronger and more prepared for the task of nation building.

Alhaji Kasim, an opinion leader of the Muslim community who received the items on behalf of his colleagues  thanked Mr. Agbodza for his generosity and pledged that the items would be distributed evenly among all Muslims in the district.
