Dambai (O/R), July 7, GNA – A total of 253 aspirants has successfully filed their nominations and been cleared to contest various constituency executive positions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elections across the nine constituencies in the Oti Region.

The elections, scheduled for Saturday, form part of the party’s constitutional internal electoral process to elect constituency executives who will manage the affairs of the party at the constituency level for the next four years and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 General Election.

The exercise is expected to give party delegates the opportunity to elect leaders capable of promoting unity, expanding membership and improving the party’s electoral fortunes in the region.

Figures available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) indicate that Krachi East has 32 aspirants contesting various executive positions, while Krachi West has 27 aspirants.

The Akan and Guan constituencies have 20 aspirants each, with Buem recording 28 aspirants and Biakoye registering 29.

The Nchumuru Constituency has the highest number of aspirants with 33, while Nkwanta South and Nkwanta North have 32 aspirants each.

Mr Daniel Asiedu, Oti Deputy Regional Secretary of the NPP, and some party officials who spoke to the GNA, expressed confidence that the elections would be conducted in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner across all nine constituencies.

They appealed to delegates to exercise their franchise responsibly by electing competent, dedicated and committed executives who would work in the collective interest of the party.

The officials also urged aspirants and their supporters to abide by the party’s code of conduct, avoid acts that could undermine party cohesion and accept the outcome of the elections in good faith.

According to them, maintaining unity before, during and after the elections would be crucial to repositioning the party and enhancing its preparedness for the 2028 General Election.

Political observers say the constituency executive elections will play a significant role in strengthening the NPP’s organisational capacity at the grassroots level, as the newly elected executives will be responsible for membership mobilisation, coordinating party activities and implementing party programmes within their respective constituencies.

The Oti Regional Secretariat has assured delegates and aspirants that adequate logistical and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth, peaceful and successful electoral process throughout the region.

The elections are expected to attract hundreds of delegates, party executives, polling officials and observers from across the Oti Region.
