Over 33,000 delegates to vote in Eastern Region NPP constituency elections

Koforidua, July 7, GNA – A total of 33,799 delegates in the Eastern Region are expected to vote on Saturday, July 11, in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Constituency Executives Election to elect party executives in the region’s 33 constituencies. 

Voting will take place from 0800 hours to 1600 hours at designated polling centres, with delegates expected to elect constituency executives to steer the affairs of the party over the next four years. 

Mr Nana Aduro Numapau Awuah, Eastern Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA). 

He said 11 of the region’s 33 constituencies would hold contests for all 11 constituency executive positions, while the remaining constituencies would have elections for between two and 10 positions. 

Mr Awuah said ballot papers and other election materials would be ready by Thursday, July 9, to facilitate a smooth and orderly electoral process. 

He urged all contestants to comply strictly with the rules governing the election and advised them to seek clarification from the appropriate election committee whenever necessary. 

Mr Awuah also appealed to journalists to verify election-related information with designated electoral officers before publication to ensure accurate and responsible reporting of the results. 

The positions to be contested are Chairperson, First Vice Chairperson, Second Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Organiser, Communications Officer, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer and Research Officer.
