Sunyani (Bono), March 9, GNA – Madam Mahamadu Sirina, National Vice President of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), has encouraged women with disabilities to remain confident and relentlessly pursue their dreams and aspirations.

She said despite the numerous challenges they continued to encounter, women with disabilities were capable of making meaningful contributions to society and improving their livelihoods.

Madam Sirina therefore urged them to engage in economically viable ventures that would enhance their welfare and independence.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, she commended mothers with disabilities, as well as caregivers, for their dedication and hard work in the face of persistent societal stereotypes.

Madam Sirina advised girls with disabilities not to allow life’s difficulties to discourage them, cautioning them against streetism and alms begging.

She called on the government to expand employable skills training opportunities for young persons with disabilities and appealed to the public to end all forms of stigmatization and discrimination against them.
