Hohoe (V/R), Aug.10, GNA – Food and drink vendors in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region will undergo the Annual Medical Screening and Health Education Exercise, in accordance with Section 97(1) of the Food and Drugs Authority Regulations and Section 25(11) of Hohoe Municipal Assembly Byelaws, 2018.
A release signed by Mr Wisdom Kporngor, the Hohoe Municipal Coordinating Director and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said all persons involved in the processing, preparation, handling, sale and distribution of food and drinks, were required by law to undergo medical screening.
It said the measure was intended to safeguard public health by preventing the spread of food and water borne diseases and infections”.
It said the exercise scheduled for Monday, 17th August to Friday, September 25, 2026, covered all communities within the Municipality, covering a cost of GHS 50.00 per vendor.
Mr Kporngor said the exercise would be organised by the Environmental Health Unit of the Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and Public Health Promotion partners.
He said any food and drink vendor who failed to participate in the exercise shall be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the Food and Drugs Authority Regulations and the Hohoe Municipality Assembly Byelaws.
