Kadjebi (O/R), March 09, GNA – Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region have joined the nationwide strike declared by the Association to demand improved conditions of service.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Kadjebi District Assembly premises at about 0830 hours on Monday showed that all offices were closed with no staff present.

Mr Emmanuel Doe, Kadjebi CLOGSAG Chairman, told the GNA that members in the district had fully complied with the directive issued by the national leadership of the Association.

He explained that the strike aimed to press home the demand for improved conditions of service for members across the country.

Mr Doe said the concerns of the Association had been outstanding for a long time and urged the government to take urgent steps to address them.

He noted that the action should not be misconstrued as a confrontation with the government but rather a genuine call for the implementation of agreed conditions of service for CLOGSAG members.

The National Executive Council of CLOGSAG, in a letter dated March 5 titled “Declaration of Nationwide Strike,” directed all members to stay off work effective Monday, March 9, after government failed to implement the Association’s demands.

The strike has affected operations in several public institutions where CLOGSAG members work, including district assemblies, Environmental Health and Sanitation Units, the Department of Food and Agriculture (DoFA), the Social Welfare and Community Development Unit, and other government establishments.
