Awuna Beach (WR), Aug. 10, GNA – Mr Paul Otis Dentu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shama in the Western Region, has expressed satisfaction at work done on five new projects within the district, funded with District Assemblies Common Fund.
The DCE said the government released some 17 million in 2025 for the 24-Hour market and other capital projects and assured that the Assembly would monitor to ensure that the various projects at substantial level of completion were delivered on schedule to serve the community’s needs.
Mr Dentu together with the Planning Officer, the Coordinating Director, Works Sub-Committee members and information Officer among others carried out an inspection to ascertain progress of work.
He announced a commitment to building institutional places of convenience particularly in schools without such critical facilities to drive the WASH agenda.
The team visited Awuna Beach where a three-unit classroom block with office, store and staff common room had been completed.
At Krobo Bosomdo, the assembly was building a two-unit KG block with ancillary facilities, the Anto community also has six-unit classroom with additional facilities while, Komfueku had a two-storey classroom with ancillary facilities.
In Fawomaye, the assembly inspected the progress on the Nurses quarters, while at Asomase No. One CHPS compound and Nurses quarters was on going.
The Dwomo community was benefiting from a CHPS compound and Nurses quarters as well, with the district capital blessed with a newly constructed Theatre to serve the maternity block of the district health centre.
Mr Eric Aboagye Mensah, the District Coordinating Director urged the communities to have more trust in the Assembly as it was committed to dispense more community services to uplift the living standards of the people.
He said the assembly had in plan some road reshaping in September to ensure that communities easily connected to market centres, clinics and even the assembly.
Mr Mensah called on the contractors to deliver the projects on time as management prepared to meet and take decisions on projects for 2026.
The Assembly had also purchased two new vehicles, repaired buses and other internal fixtures from the Internally Generated Funds (IGF).
