Anfoega SHS touts academic, discipline laurels to mark Diamond Jubilee

By Edward Williams

Anfoega (V/R), March 28, GNA – Mr Albert Kwasi Dodo, the Headmaster of the Anfoega Senior High School (ANFOESEC) in the Volta Region, has lauded the academic achievements of the school as it climaxes its 60th Anniversary Celebration.

He noted that the School’s WASSCE results over the years had been very encouraging with over 80 per cent scoring aggregates “A to C” thereby qualifying for tertiary institutions.

Mr Dodo in his address noted that the performance, however, dropped in 2024 and 2025 to 15 per cent and 35 per cent respectively.

He said the girls consistently outperformed the boys with single aggregates, and some were currently at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Mastercard Foundation Scholarships.

“I must assure our stakeholders that we have identified areas where we have fallen short and we are determined, committed and focused to work harder to correct the wrongs,” the Headmaster said.

Mr Dodo said indiscipline in recent times in Senior High Schools across the country had become a national concern. However, he said discipline, generally in ANFOESEC, was under control.

He commended all who had played and continued to play varied roles to ensure that ANFOESEC remained in a disciplined environment.

Mr Dodo also lauded the school’s performance in areas of sports, agriculture and fashion design.

He said the school had a culture of inculcating in the learners the spirit of self-reliance, adding that the school’s brass band instruments with uniform and public address system were procured through fund raising efforts by students and staff.

Mr Dodo highlighted infrastructure achievements made by the past and present governments of President John Dramani Mahama as well as other governments in enhancing quality education.

He said the school, despite its achievements, continued to face challenges, pointing out that addressing the challenges would bring the school back to a single-track school system.

Mr Dodo expressed gratitude to the old students for their continuous support.

The Jubilee was on the theme: “Celebrating 60 Years: The Role of Stakeholders in Providing Quality Education for the 21st Century”.

Mr Michael Tawiah Klutse, the President, Anfoega Senior High School Old Students Association (ANFOSA), recognised the tremendous support of stakeholders including past individuals and year groups of the school.

He called for healing and reconciliation from past students who still carried painful memories such as disciplinary encounters, misunderstandings or unmet expectations that led to resentment and distance.

“Let this 60th Anniversary be our turning point. Let healing replace bitterness, let reconciliation replace resentment and let unity guide our steps,” he said.

Mr Klutse pledged the alumni’s continuous contributions to the development and growth of the school and students’ wellbeing in all spheres of academic development.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, the Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, commended the old students for their outstanding inputs in the organisation of the anniversary.

He challenged the current batch of students to emulate the alumni and be hopeful, with studiousness, to achieve the various opportunities ahead of them.
