Dzodze (V/R), Oct. 3, GNA – Torgbui Adzenu III, the Divisional Chief of Dzodze Afeyeme Agorgorme Sreme, has urged students of the Missionary Benfulks College at Dzodze, to take their education seriously and remain committed to academic excellence.
He said education remained an important tool for personal development and community advancement, and encouraged the students to make effective use of the opportunities available to them.
Torgbui Adzenu made the call at the school’s Academic and Prize-giving Ceremony, to recognise students who had excelled academically and distinguished themselves in various school activities.
He congratulated the awardees for their hard work and discipline, and urged them not to become complacent but to continue working hard to achieve greater success.
The Chief particularly encouraged the nine awardees preparing to pursue tertiary education to remain focused and disciplined when they entered the university.
He urged them to recognise that university education came with greater responsibility and required commitment, self-discipline and effective time management.
Torgbui Adzenu said their success at the tertiary level would not only make their families proud but would also bring honour to the school and the wider community.
He also commended the management and teachers of Missionary Benfulks College for their efforts in nurturing students and producing good academic results despite the school not receiving much visibility within the community.
He noted that although the school was “hidden” and not widely visible, its performance demonstrated that the institution had the potential to contribute significantly to the education of young people in the area.
As part of his support for the school, Torgbui Adzenu donated 20 bags of cement towards the construction of the school’s main gate and signpost.
He said the gesture was intended to support efforts to improve the visibility and physical development of the school.
The Chief further pledged to support all nine awardees who had gained admission or were preparing to enter university by providing and paying for the necessary requirements to enable them to begin their tertiary education.
He said the support would help reduce the financial burden on the students and their families and ensure that financial difficulties did not prevent the beneficiaries from pursuing their educational aspirations.
Torgbui Adzenu encouraged other individuals, organisations and stakeholders to support the school and its students, particularly those who demonstrated academic promise but faced financial challenges.
He said investment in education was for the future of the community and called for collective efforts to create an enabling environment for students to excel.
The ceremony brought together school authorities, teachers, parents, traditional leaders, students and other stakeholders, to celebrate academic achievement and encourage students to strive for excellence.
