Atortorkorpe-Ada, March 02, GNA – The Ada East District Business Resource Center (BRC), under the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, has encouraged Ada youth to apply for available government grants to expand their businesses and reduce unemployment.
Mr Prosper Tetteh Puplampu, the District Director of the BRC, speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that plans were underway to strengthen youth development through targeted training and mentorship programmes.
Mr Puplampu said the Centre remained committed to addressing youth unemployment by supporting rural enterprises and farmers in the district.
According to him, many young people in Ada were hard-working but lacked the financial capacity to scale up their businesses, disclosing that several local businesses also lacked the required documentation to qualify for government loans or grants.
He explained that applicants must meet certain requirements, including possession of a business registration certificate, a verifiable business location such as a stall or container, and a clear business plan.
Mr Puplampu added that successful applicants would undergo a week-long training programme to build their capacity in financial management and business sustainability.
He therefore encouraged business owners, start-ups, and farmers within the district to take advantage of the opportunity.
“Any youth between the ages of 18 and 35 is encouraged to apply because the government is serious about youth development,” he said.
He further disclosed that the Centre was currently seeking individuals interested in nursing tomato seedlings for farmers, describing it as an immediate employment opportunity.
