Tsito (V/R), Feb. 13, GNA – Mr Francis Dusey, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ho West, has inspected ongoing construction works and storm-related damage at the Tsito Methodist Basic School.
He was accompanied by staff of the District Assembly and Assembly Members from the Tsito Electoral Area as part of the Assembly’s routine monitoring to ensure that infrastructure projects met required standards and timelines.
The team first visited the construction site of a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities being undertaken for the school.
Mr Dusey said the project was progressing on schedule and commended the contractor “for staying true to his word and working diligently to deliver quality.”
He explained that the new classroom block was initiated because the old structure had deteriorated and could no longer support effective teaching and learning.
“Our decision to construct a new block stemmed from the dangerously weak condition of the old facility. Students deserve a safe environment,” he stated.
The team also assessed destruction caused by a rainstorm that hit the school on Sunday, February 8.
The storm ripped off the entire roof of the existing classroom block, leaving the structure exposed.
“This level of damage is troubling. The school is now vulnerable, and immediate intervention is required to safeguard both pupils and property,” Mr Dusey said.
The Ho West District Assembly assured the school community of its commitment to restore the damaged block while fast-tracking the completion of the new classroom facility to ensure uninterrupted academic work.
