Oti Region prepares for NPP presidential primaries with tight security

Dambai (O/R) Jan 27, GNA- More than 5,500 delegates are set to cast their ballots at nine polling centres across the Oti Region on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with polls opening at 0700 hours and closing at 1400 hours. 

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has put in place robust security measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process in the region. 

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Daniel Asiedu, the Oti Regional Deputy Secretary of the NPP, revealed that the party has finalised security arrangements with the regional police commander. 

He stated that the venue has been divided into three zones, a general public area, a queue for eligible voters, and a restricted voting area. 

He told GNA that the police would be solely responsible for security, with no private security details or external personnel allowed. 

Mr Asi emphasised zero-tolerance policy on weapons and prohibited items, including writing materials and electronic devices, would be enforced in the inner perimeter. 

According to the deputy secretary, regional executives would be clearly identified, and candidates are required to educate their supporters on the rules. 

He emphasised that aspirants are responsible for ensuring their followers comply with security measures to avoid confrontations. The party is confident that these measures would ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process in the Oti Region.
