Kumasi, Jan. 07, GNA – Some commercial drivers in the Kumasi metropolis have expressed satisfaction of the NDC government’s performance in its first year in office.
The drivers praised President John Dramani Mahama for the continued drop in fuel prices in the last twelve months and said if it continued in that way in 2026, it would impact positively on their operations.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency(GNA) during an interaction in some transport terminals at Kumasi, the drivers said the projections made by the Spare Parts Dealers Association in December 2025, which sought to see a drop in prices, if implemented, could significantly improve the transport industry and the general economy.
The drivers said affordable spare parts would not only have significant impact on transport fares, but also ensure road safety in the country.
Mr Kwasi Dwomoh, a bus driver at Asafo told the GNA that, it was costly to purchase parts of his vehicle for repairs whenever there were breakdowns.
“When I heard in the news last year that prices of brand new parts were expected to drop by 60 per cent, I was relieved.
This means that we can at least trust in the Transport Ministry and the government,” he declared.
Baba Malik Yahaya, a Ford transit driver noted that, the stability of transport fares on the Kumasi-Accra, Kumasi-Cape Coast, Takoradi as well as Tarkwa and other major routes, was something he admired.
All these had been due to the drop in prices of fuel in the previous year, he told the GNA.
He was hopeful that the prices would remain at their present state for a while to stabilise the economy further especially in 2026.
Uncle Kwamena Andoh, a “Trotro” driver, expressed satisfaction in the government’s operations of the last few months.
He pleaded with the government to prioritise inner-city road networks, to ease the compounding traffic situation in Kumasi and peripheral communities.
