KABUL, Sept. 15, (Xinhua/GNA) – Afghan police have dismantled a 13-member professional armed theft gang, and seized seven firearms in northern Jawzjan province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs announced on Tuesday.
The gang was broken up during a series of operations, conducted on the outskirts of Aqcha district, the ministry said in a statement.
The individuals had stolen a quantity of gold and cash from a residential house in the district, said the statement, adding that during the operation, officers recovered seven firearms, ammunition and other military equipment from their possession.
The action forms part of the Afghan government’s broader efforts to combat crime, and reinforce security across the war-ravaged country.
