Istanbul, Sept 15. (dpa/GNA) – Three people were killed and another person injured, in a shooting in a shop in Istanbul’s Fatih district, a popular tourist area, after an argument between the shop owner and a customer, Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu reported on Tuesday.
The argument is said to have taken place in a currency exchange office. according to unconfirmed media reports.
Two people were initially reported dead and two injured, but the numbers were updated shortly afterwards.
Police detained a suspect at the scene, Anadolu reported. The shooting took place in Sofcu Han, a shopping arcade near the Grand Bazaar.
The Fatih district on Istanbul’s European side is a tourist centre and home to numerous shops and sights.
The private news agency DHA published photos, showing a person being taken on a stretcher to an ambulance.
A video shared on X also showed the scene.
