Chinderi (O/R), Sept 16, GNA – The Jerry-John Yenabi Foundation has supported about 600 fresh Senior High School (SHS) students in the Krachi Nchumuru District with essential educational items and free transportation to their respective schools.
The initiative, implemented under the theme, “Touching Lives and Transforming Society,” is aimed at easing the financial pressure on parents and helping students from less-privileged backgrounds to transition smoothly into secondary education.
The fresh SHS students received items including mattresses, chop boxes, buckets and other basic materials required for their stay at SHS.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Jerry-John Yenabi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, said investing in young people was critical to achieving sustainable development in communities.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their education, avoid behaviours that could undermine their future and make good use of the opportunities available to them.
Mr Yenabi encouraged the students not to allow their present circumstances to determine their aspirations, stressing that discipline, hard work and commitment could help them achieve their goals
The Foundation has, over the years, undertaken various interventions in education and community development, including the distribution of free school uniforms to more than 3,000 children and the donation of 1,000 copybooks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) Directorate.
It has also supported the renovation of some deteriorating school infrastructure and provided anti-snake serum to help safeguard lives within the district.
As part of efforts to promote academic excellence, the Foundation announced a full scholarship package for the student who emerges as the Best BECE candidate in the district in 2026.
Nana Amankunte, a traditional leader, commended the Foundation for its sustained contribution to education and community development.
He described the SHS support as a significant intervention for the district and encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and aspire to become responsible leaders.
Some parents expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the support and urged the students to stay away from substance abuse and other harmful behaviours that could jeopardise their education and future.
The Foundation further appealed to the Government, traditional authorities and religious organisations to strengthen collaboration and support initiatives aimed at accelerating development in the district.
