Kumasi, Jan. 16, GNA – Asante Kotoko have received a timely boost to their attacking department following the return of prolific striker Albert Amoah from Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi for the rest of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors confirmed the deal on Thursday, deadline day of the transfer window, as they move to reinforce their frontline ahead of a crucial second half of the campaign.
Amoah’s comeback brings renewed optimism to the Kumasi-based club, which has been seeking greater cutting edge in front of goal.
The Ghanaian forward only left Kotoko earlier last year, after the club’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, joining Al Ahly Benghazi in North Africa.
However, limited game time in Libya prompted a quick return to familiar surroundings, where Amoah has already established himself as a proven match-winner.
Amoah enjoyed a remarkable spell with Kotoko after arriving from Great Olympics in 2024.
He emerged as the club’s top scorer in the 2024–25 season, netting 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions, while his strength and penalty-box instincts made him a constant threat to opposing defenders.
He also played a decisive role in Kotoko’s FA Cup success, scoring three goals in four matches to help secure the trophy, further cementing his status as a fan favourite at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Prior to his move to Libya, the striker had already started the current season strongly, scoring four goals in six outings, including a brace against Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Kotoko will now be counting on Amoah’s return to reignite their attacking momentum as they intensify their push in the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions.
His familiarity with the club’s system and the local league is expected to translate into an immediate impact, providing a significant lift to the Porcupine Warriors’ offensive ambitions.
