Asiakwa (E/R), Jan. 02, GNA-The Asiakwahene and Okyeman Nifahene, Daasebre Dr. Twum Ampofo II, has called on citizens to uphold unity, peace, and collective responsibility in the New Year, describing social cohesion as essential to community development.

In a New Year message issued to the Ghana News Agency, Daasebre Ampofo II expressed gratitude to chiefs, elders, youth, and residents of Asiakwa for what he described as steadfast loyalty and cooperation throughout the past year.

He said these shared values had enabled the community to navigate economic and social pressures without fracturing communal bonds.

“Through every challenge and triumph, your unity and commitment have remained our greatest strength,” the Asiakwahene said.

He urged residents to renew their dedication to peaceful coexistence, stressing that progress cannot be sustained in an atmosphere of division. “The year ahead calls us to stand even firmer together, to build, to serve, and to uplift one another,” he stated.

Daasebre Ampofo II emphasized that peace must remain the cornerstone of local governance and development.

He noted that traditional authority played a stabilising role by mediating disputes, promoting dialogue, and reinforcing shared norms.

“With peace as our foundation and progress as our goal, we shall continue to move forward as one people, bound by respect, tradition, and shared purpose,” he said.

The Asiakwahene also appealed to community leaders to prioritise youth development and social inclusion, noting that young people must see tangible opportunities within their communities. “May this new year bring prosperity to our homes, wisdom to our leaders, and hope to our youth,” he said, adding that leadership at all levels must be guided by integrity and service.

A member of the Asiakwa Traditional Council said the message reflected growing concern among traditional leaders about social cohesion at the local level.

“The chief is reminding the people that development is collective and peace driven. Without unity, no project succeeds,” the council member said.

Daasebre Ampofo II reaffirmed confidence in communal efforts, calling on residents to remain engaged in local initiatives and to resolve differences through dialogue. “Together, with continued support and mutual respect, we shall achieve greater heights,” he said, extending New Year blessings to the people of Asiakwa.
