Dunkwa-on-Offin (C/R), May 01, GNA – In a move to promote cleanliness and improve hygiene standards in schools within the Upper Denkyira West District and Wassa Amenfi East Municipality, Perseus Mining Ghana Limited, in partnership with Manale Hospitality, has donated sanitary items to five schools in its catchment communities.
The initiative is aimed at instilling proper hygiene habits among pupils and creating a clean and conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
The items valued at GHC 50,000.00 include dustbins, Veronica buckets, long brooms, liquid soap, and other cleaning materials to enhance sanitation practices in the schools which cost about.
The beneficiary schools include Nkonya M/A, Besease M/A, Brofoyedu Anglican, Ayanfuri D/A, and Fobinso D/A.
Presenting the items at the PMGL Edikan Site, the Project Manager of Manale, Mr Anthony Owusu Amoako, urged the students to take the lead in promoting environmental cleanliness in their schools and communities.
He encouraged them to champion sanitation campaigns and uphold good hygienic practices, emphasising that a clean environment was essential for good health and academic success.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Manager of Perseus Mining Ghana Limited, Mr Amatus Niminye, advised students to remain focused on their education and strive for excellence.
He said they were capable of achieving their goals and no limitations should be allowed to hinder their aspirations because the future of their communities and the nation ddepended on their commitment and hard work.
The initiative according to him, was part of the company’s broader commitment to support education, promote health and empower young pupils to stay in school with confidence.
Mr Niminye was of the hope that the intervention would help eradicate numerous environmental diseases and ailments borne out of poor sanitation that could be a barrier to consistent school attendance and academic success.
