Kumasi, Dec. 16, GNA – The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has outlined several developmental projects and programmes earmarked for implementation in the Manhyia North Sub-Metropolitan Area in 2026.

Mr Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, the Mayor of Kumasi, who disclosed this, said the provision of modern facilities and infrastructure was key to attracting investors to specific communities.

Addressing a stakeholders’ engagement at Moshie Zongo, a suburb in the Manhyia North Sub-Metro, he said the KMA had awarded a contract for the construction of a six-unit classroom block at the Adabya Islamic School at Krofrom to enhance teaching and learning.

He added that the Assembly would also distribute furniture to all schools within the sub-metro in 2026.

Mr Boadi said to expand access to potable water and improve hygiene, the Assembly would construct additional mechanised boreholes at Buokrom and CPC.

Under the Mayor’s Challenge initiative, about 140 households had been provided with household toilets, and more toilet facilities would be constructed in the coming year.

He appealed to unserved households to comply with the payment directives to enable them benefit from the programme and help keep their environments clean.

The Mayor also announced plans to rehabilitate the Moshie Zongo Health Centre to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

Mr Boadi further revealed that construction of an ultra-modern market would soon commence at Moshie Zongo, noting that the facility would benefit traders and help decongest major business districts in the city.

He mentioned that the KMA had recently constructed a market at Aprampram, footbridges at Duase and Moshie Zongo, and institutional toilet facilities at the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies and St. Hubert R/C School at Duase.

Mr Boadi reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusiveness in governance and underscored the need for collaboration and partnership among stakeholders to ensure sustainable development.
