Choggu (N/R), Dec 16, GNA – Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) in collaboration with the Centre for Community Education and Youth Development (CCEYD) has commemorated this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day by engaging students in nine schools in four districts of the Northern Region.
The engagements held separately in the schools in the districts were to encourage the students to join the fight against corruption in the country.
They were educated on the effects of corruption, whistleblowing, and the legal protections available to them for reporting acts of corruption equipping them with knowledge, courage, and practical steps to confront corruption.
The schools included Wulensi Senior High School, Wulensi D/A Junior High School (JHS), Choggu JHS, St Paul’s JHS, Gushegu Girls Model, Gushegu Demonstration JHS, and Karaga Nuri Islam JHS located in the Nanumba South, Sagnarigu, Gushegu and Karaga Districts.
The engagements formed part of a nationwide campaign, which was held across 87 districts in the country to empower young people to resist, reject and report corruption.

It was under the global theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”, and supported by the GIZ, the European Union in Ghana, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Mrs Beauty Emefa Nartey, Executive Secretary of GACC, whose speech was read on her behalf at all the schools by Mr Abu Ibrahim, Executive Director of CCEYD, emphasised the role of the youth in the fight against corruption in the country.
Mrs. Nartey emphasized that the youth were central to the anti‑corruption struggle since their future depended on how current leaders managed and use public resources.
She said, “Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the changemakers of today.”
