“Tall Ghana” expands to Kumasi after successful debut in Accra

Accra, June 4, GNA – Tall Ghana, a social and networking initiative to connect tall persons across the country, is expanding its reach following a successful launch in Accra less than two weeks ago.

Organisers have announced a second Accra edition of “The Elevated Circle: Tall Ghana” scheduled for June 4, at Gyandu Place in East Legon, while a third event is planned for July 20, 2026, at Starbites in Kumasi.

The initiative, which began as a platform for bringing together Ghana’s tall community, has quickly evolved into a growing movement attracting professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, members of the diaspora and individuals seeking meaningful social connections through shared experiences.

Founded by Ms Ivy Prosper, Media Personality, and Cultural Strategist, the concept was inspired by her personal experiences as a tall person and the growing popularity of height-based social events in other parts of the world.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the initiative, Ms. Prosper said she had conceived the idea in 2022 but decided to launch it this year when she believed the timing was right.

“What we discovered is that this isn’t just about height. It’s about community. People enjoyed meeting others who understood their experiences and wanted opportunities to continue those conversations,” she said.

“Right after the first event ended, people were asking when the next one was going to take place.”

The organisers say the inaugural event held on May 21 exceeded expectations, drawing participants from diverse professional and social backgrounds who found common ground in their shared experiences as tall individuals.

Tall Ghana encourages participation from men measuring six feet and above and women who are at least five feet nine inches tall, although attendance is open to everyone regardless of height.

Ms. Prosper noted that even individuals who did not meet the suggested height criteria attended the maiden event out of curiosity and a desire to experience the unique atmosphere created by the gathering.

“We had three short ladies join us to experience what it was like to be around all these tall people in one place,” she said.

Tall individuals often encountered similar experiences in their daily lives, including standing out in crowds, difficulty finding appropriately fitting clothing and regularly being asked whether they play basketball.

These common experiences, she said, provided a natural basis for building friendships, professional networks and support systems among participants.

The initiative comes at a time when niche communities and curated social experiences are gaining popularity globally as people increasingly seek social interactions built around shared identities, interests and lifestyles rather than traditional networking formats.

Ms Prosper noted that guests attending the June 4 event would enjoy an evening of networking, entertainment, music, conversation and social activities designed to foster connections in a relaxed setting.

Beyond the planned Accra and Kumasi editions, Tall Ghana has ambitions to develop into a broader platform that promotes community engagement and lifestyle experiences for tall individuals.

Future plans include regional meet-ups, wellness programmes, fashion collaborations, travel experiences and possible expansion into other African countries.

“ We believe the growing interest in the initiative demonstrates a demand for inclusive spaces where people can connect through unique shared experiences,” she said.

Tickets for both events are available online through Egotickets.
