Domfete (Bono) 08, Dec. GNA – The Berekum West District Assembly, led by Mr Dickson Kyere-Duah, Member of Parliament (MP), and Mr Collins Asomah, District Chief Executive (DCE), have taken a significant step to address a longstanding waste management issue in Domfete, a community in the Bono Region.

A large refuse dump, which had been a health hazard to residents, had been evacuated by the Assembly.

Residents have been complaining of the dump, which posed serious health risks to the community.

Mr Asomah, the DCE in an interview with the media at Jinjini emphasised that the government prioritised a clean environment, which was crucial for economic development.

He assured the public that the assembly would provide a refuse container to prevent future littering and maintain a healthy environment to improve the living conditions of residents to prevent the spread of diseases.

The DCE observed that the initiative was part of the Assembly’s efforts to improve sanitation and waste management in the district, saying the move was seen as a significant step towards achieving a clean and healthy environment in the community.

He warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and urged them to use the provided waste containers.

Residents of Domfete expressed their gratitude to the District Assembly for resolving the longstanding refuse issue in the area.

Mr Eric Baah, a resident, on behalf of the community, thanked the Assembly, saying that the removal of the refuse dump would improve their health conditions.

“We can now enjoy our meals without the stench of garbage, particularly in the evenings,” and again expressed relief and happiness with the intervention.
