Standard Chartered Bank employees clean Labadi Beach

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA – Staff of Standard Chartered Bank embarked on a beach clean up as part of the Bank’s annual Employee Volunteering Week.

The exercise at the Labadi Beach formed part of efforts to reduce plastics and other pollutants that endanger aquatic and human life.

Employee Volunteering Week encourages staff to step beyond regular roles and contribute meaningfully to social causes.

“The exercise reflects the Banks commitment to sustainability and encourage individuals to help protect the environment,” and official release issued to the Ghana News Agency, Monday said.

“By mobilising staff to support community initiatives, the Bank demonstrates that collective effort can make a real difference towards driving sustainability within our communities,” it said.

The staff encouraged community members to take greater responsibility for proper waste disposal and contribute to keeping Ghana’s beaches clean.

“The beach clean-up adds to a series of efforts through which the Bank continues to show that progress is achieved when corporate responsibility and individual action come together for the greater good,” the Bank said.

Over the years, Standard Chartered has translated its global sustainability aspirations into local initiatives that protect natural ecosystems, drive social impact, and inspire behavioural change.

In March this year, Standard Chartered Bank employees held a mentorship session for 350 teenage girls at the Nima Cluster of Schools to mark International Women’s Day.

The initiative, according to the personnel, was to create positive social change and push for more investment in women.

Some staff members highlighted aspects of their life and career development journey and how teenagers could navigate the path to adulthood.

The employees encouraged the students to set clear goals and work towards their aspirations, irrespective of setbacks.
