Tamale (N/R) Nov 7, GNA- The Oti Regional National Peace Council Director, Mr. Paul Akonor, has praised the media for the significant contribution to peace building efforts in Ghana.
Speaking at a training workshop in Tamale, he expressed appreciation for the media’s effective information dissemination, which had made the Council’s work easier.
Mr. Akonor highlighted the media’s timely reporting and amplification of the Council’s messages as crucial in promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence.
He explained that the council’s work involved behind-the-scenes peace building, including negotiation, dialogue, and other forms of conflict resolution.
“We do more of what we call back channels, where we tend to move to the competing parties, separately and through other means to ensure that we are doing our work,” Mr. Akonor added.
Mr. Charles Ohene-Amoah, Central Regional Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council (NPC), expressed satisfaction with the council’s work, particularly in conflict resolution.
Speaking in an interview, he said the council was highly satisfied with the progress in promoting peace and resolving conflicts.
Mr Amoah highlighted the council’s efforts in addressing various conflicts in the region, noting that their work had led to significant progress in promoting harmony and stability.
“We are highly satisfied with our work, especially on conflict resolution,” he said, emphasizing the council’s commitment to continuing efforts to promote peace and cohesion.
