Obuasi (Ash), Nov. 3, GNA – The Obuasi East Municipal Health Directorate has commissioned a modern Wellness Clinic Center at Tutuka, a suburb of Obuasi through a landmark partnership with philanthropist Mr. Godfred Acheampong.

The newly inaugurated facility is designed to provide comprehensive, preventive, and primary healthcare services, marking a significant milestone in efforts to enhance community health and wellbeing within the municipality.

The ceremony brought together community leaders, health professionals, traditional authorities, and residents, who gathered to celebrate the realisation of a shared vision for a healthier Obuasi East.

Mrs Charity Afrifa Adjei, the Municipal Director of Health Services, addressing the gathering, underscored the importance of the facility in strengthening preventive healthcare delivery.

“This partnership goes beyond brick and mortar; it is about building a healthier future for our people. For too long, our focus has been stretched between curative and preventive care.

This dedicated Wellness Clinic allows us to proactively address health issues before they become critical. From screenings and nutritional counseling to chronic disease management and mental health support, this center will serve as a cornerstone for wellness and prevention,” Mr. Adjei noted.

She expressed the directorate’s profound appreciation to Mr. Acheampong for his visionary support and shared commitment to public health.

Mr. Acheampong, whose philanthropic foundation funded the project, reaffirmed his dedication to improving lives through targeted investments in health and education.

“My success is meaningless if it does not translate into the improved wellbeing of my community,” he stated.

According to him, health is the true wealth of any society and that partnering with the Obuasi East Municipal Health Directorate to establish the clinic is an investment in the people.

“It is my hope that this center will not only treat but also educate and empower every individual who walks through its doors to lead a healthier life,” he added.

The new Wellness Clinic will offer a wide range of services, including regular health screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI), nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling, maternal and child health support, vaccination and health education, management of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes as well as family planning services.

As part of the commissioning ceremony, organisers also offered free health screening, registration, and renewal of National Health Insurance (NHIS) for hundreds of residents who attended the event.
