By Kingsley Mamore

Dambai (O/R), Nov 24, GNA- The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) in the Oti Region has leveraged data to amplify citizens’ voices in governance through the launch of the governance series wave two report.

The event held at the Krachi East Municipal Assembly Conference Hall, Dambai, highlighted the GSS’s efforts to foster transparency and promote inclusive governance in the country.

Mr Henry Loglo, Oti Regional Statistician, explained that using Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) for bi-annual surveys, the GSS gathered crucial insights on governance and corruption.

According to him, the surveys captured public experiences and perceptions of governance, inclusiveness and institutional integrity in Ghana.

Mr Loglo, addressing the participants emphasised that the initiative aligned with efforts to monitor progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, promoting peaceful and inclusive societies and building effective, accountable institutions.

He said the GSS aimed to contribute to developing more transparent and inclusive governance systems using data-driven insights.

Mr Loglo noted that findings from the exercise would help improve transparency, strengthen institutional performance, enhance inclusive governance and provide inputs for national development governance.

The Regional Statistician revealed that, the results would also help measure SDG 16 indicators, focusing on citizen experiences with public officials and bribery.

He said the launch coincided with Africa Statistics Day (ASD) themed: “Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone,” emphasising inclusivity, accessibility and the power of high quality data.

Mr Loglo revealed that GSS planned to provide regular update on key governance indicators and corruption experiences in 2026 and beyond.
