Sunyani, (Bono), Nov. 27, GNA – Mr Paul Frimpong, the Bono Regional Coordinator of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has called on the government to make practitioners more resourceful to enhance the nation’s ADR service delivery.
He expressed the worry that the present allowances of the practitioners were not only low, but payments were also made irregularly and thereby impeding effective ADR activities.
Mr Frimpong made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on the sidelines of the 2025 ADR Week celebration, saying more investment ought to be made into the nation’s ADR system.
The Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie launched the 2025 ADR Week celebration running from Monday November 24 to Friday November 28, 2025, on the theme, “Adoption of innovation and technology to enhance access to justice delivery through ADR”.
Mr Frimpong also called on the need to sensitise legal practitioners for them to understand the ADR concept, worrying that: “Some lawyers misunderstand ADR because they fear the system threatens their profession”.
“In fact, if you are a legal practitioner, you should understand that ADR can actually generate more income for you,” he stated, saying the ADR concept did not mediate criminal cases like rape, defilement, murder, and other serious offences.
Mr Frimpong appealed to the public to cooperate and appreciate whenever a court recommended ADR for them, saying the system had less cost as compared to the traditional court system.
“ADR is effective and can resolve disputes more quickly than the traditional court system,” he advised.
