Bury the hatchet and give peace a chance – Adaklu DCE

By Emmanuel Nyatsikor, GNA

Adaklu Goefe (V/R), Nov. 3 GNA – Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive has appealed to the feuding factions at Adaklu Goefe to “bury the hatchet” and give peace a chance.

He told them that no community could develop in the midst of chaos and disunity adding, “disunity is a very dangerous weapon that destroys and retards the progress of communities.”

Mr Ameko made the appeal when he addressed the people at the Dudengor festival of the Chiefs and people of Adaklu Goefe in the Adaklu district.

The festival, which is celebrated annually, is to help foster unity among the people and raise funds for the community’s development.

Mr Ameko stated that the purpose of the festival would be defeated and prosperity would also not forgive them when they did not unite to build the community.

He disclosed that in consultation with stakeholders in the district, he would soon organise Adaklu District Economic Forum to help bring industry players to the district and also plan the developmental needs of the district.

The DCE, who is also the Dean of Volta Region MMDCEs, said the Forum would also serve as a harbinger of economic transformation of Adaklu.

He noted that he was working hard to bring investors to the district and appealed to landowners to release land for projects that would be brought to the district.

Mr Ameko expressed worry about the falling standard of education in the district, which he said was clearly shown in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination and said this should be a concern for all.

He called for a broader stakeholder engagement to help find a lasting solution to the problem.

He noted that, “The only mineral deposit in Adaklu is its human resource, which should be mined and refined for the national and international market.”

Mr Ameko assured the people of Adaklu that they would benefit immensely under the government’s Big Push agenda as most of the roads in the district were covered under the programme.

He assured the people of Adaklu Goefe that he and Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, who is also the Member of Parliament for Adaklu would help to complete their community centre building project.

The DCE called on the people to help make the district one of the cleanest in the country and appealed to every individual to take responsibility for his or her immediate surroundings and make them clean.

Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of Adaklu Kodzobi said he would help find a lasting solution to the protracted feud in the community, which he stated was retarding the progress of the community.
