Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), Oct. 20, GNA-The Jegri Bekala Company Limited, a mining company in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region has presented some school items valued GHC1000,000 to some students in the Municipality.
The beneficiaries have gained admission to Senior High Schools. The items include 1,163 trunks, 1,213 student mattresses, 5,672 exercises, and notebooks.
Speaking at a presentation ceremony at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr Collins Atta Opoku, the General Manager, Sustainable and Corporate Affairs of the Jegri Bekala, said it formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
He said: “The gesture by the company is a lifetime investment into their academic future which ought to be seen as an extension and distribution of part of the resources of Dormaa state for their sake”.
Mr Opoku urged the students to study hard and remain disciplined to justify the support to achieve high academic laurels.
He said the company intended to provide scholarships to 15 deserving students in the Municipality to study medicine, business administration, and engineering at the tertiary level.
Mr Frank Kumih, the Special Aide to Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area thanked the company for the kindness, particularly its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Prince Bekala for his countless charitable and philanthropic activities to the Dromaa people.
He said, “In 2024 Me Bekala gave a colossal amount of GHC600,000 towards the celebration of the Kwafie Festival representing the single largest individual contribution to Dormaahene for the celebration of the festival”.
Nana Kumi Agyemang, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Dormaa Central Municipal Directorate of Education, also thanked the company for the gesture.
He said the directorate would organise the 2025 Annual Teacher Prize award ceremony in November, intending to donate a vehicle as a prize package and called for support from the company.
Nana Agyemang advised the students to shun negative behaviours and concentrate on their books.
