Kumasi Sept. 18, GNA – The Doteyie (burial rites) of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, enters its last day with prominent personalities continuing to pay their last respects and commiserate with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Among the dignitaries expected to observe the last day of the Doteyie are the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama; the Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman; former President Kuffour, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Russell Dlamini and his Deputy, Thulisile Dladla, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohunu and the Police Management Board.


Others are the Deputy Minister for Defence, Mr Brogya Gyamfi and the high hierarchy of the Ghana Armed Forces; the Acting Chief Justice, Mr Paul Baffoe Bonney; the Deputy Governor of New York City, Dr Bishop Kwasi Adu Amankwaa; the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama and his two deputies; former first Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Mr. Allan Kyeremanteng, former Minister of Trade, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, former MP for Assin Central, and many others.
A church service will also be held for the late queen mother before the body is carried through the city of Kumasi, to the royal mausoleum (Baamu) at Breman for interment later in the day.


A curfew has already been imposed in the city from 1800 hours on Thursday, September 18, 2025, until the dawn of the following day to prevent people from crossing the burial procession during the night.
The city is currently at a standstill as all activities have been halted for the people to pay their last respect to the late queen mother of Asanteman.
