Michigan church on fire after shooting leaves multiple people hurt

Sept 28, (CNN/GNA) – Multiple people have been injured in a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, according to police.

The shooter is down but a fire has broken out at the church, according to local authorities, who urged residents to stay out of the area.

Grand Blanc is a suburb of Flint, Michigan, and located about an hour’s drive north of Detroit.

Children are among the injured from today’s shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, a source familiar with the situation told CNN.

Patients were still being taken from the church to a hospital as of a short time ago, the source said.

Videos captured by a resident, Leah Graham, show heavy plumes of smoke coming from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

The videos were taken from a nearby road this morning.

Graham told CNN she didn’t witness the attack at the church but noticed that surrounding roads were closed as she drove by.
