Peki (V/R), Sept. 4, GNA – Mr. Thomas Ampem-Nyarko, Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency, has called on old students of Peki College of Education (GOVCO) to renew their commitment to the development of their alma mater.
Mr. Ampem – Narko, an old student, made the appeal, when he addressed the Old Govconians Association Homecoming and Congress at Peki, where he was the Guest Speaker.
The event was held on the theme: “Rebuilding Institutional Resilience – A Call for Alumni Renewed Support.”
Mr. Ampem-Nyarko said the theme was timely, as it underscored the need for stakeholders, particularly alumni, to strengthen the foundation of teacher training institutions to withstand challenges and remain competitive.
“The focus on resilience compels us to ask how we can collectively strengthen and support current arrangements to ensure GOVCO remains exemplary despite challenges,” he stated.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to the education sector, stressing that teacher training was a top priority for the current administration.
He cited President John Mahama’s emphasis on improving teacher education and said the government was determined to sustain those efforts for national development.
Mr. Ampem-Nyarko further assured that government was committed to the prompt payment of teacher trainee allowances at the end of every month to reduce financial difficulties faced by students.
He commended the leadership of the college and the Old Govconians Association for their continuous support in making GOVCO an attractive institution for academic and professional training.
The Deputy Minister also challenged alumni to go beyond rhetoric by supporting the college with mentorship programmes, infrastructure assistance, and resource mobilization to uplift its status.
“Alumni contributions are indispensable in ensuring growth and development. GOVCO needs the collective input of its old students to thrive,” he said.
Mr. Ampem-Nyarko invoked blessings on the college and the alumni body, urging them to remain united and purposeful in their quest to strengthen the institution.
“May God bless GOVCO. OGA kpata kpataa,” he declared.
