Accra, June 9, GNA – The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has called on the Church in Africa to intensify efforts toward spiritual revival to accelerate the evangelisation of the continent.
He made the call at the climax of the 2026 National Conference of the General Council of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God, held in Harare.
Rev. Wengam, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, urged churches across the continent to prioritise prayer, faith, and discipleship to ensure sustainable growth and greater impact.
He further used the platform to invite pastors, church leaders, and members to participate in the upcoming World Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, scheduled to take place in Accra from October 14 to 16, 2026.
The conference featured a series of activities, including a Pastors and Leaders Seminar, revival services, and a Youth Ministry session.
Other speakers included Rev. Dominic Yeo, Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, and Rev. Ryan Jacobs, an American Assemblies of God missionary based in Malawi.
About 250 pastors and leaders attended the leadership seminar, while more than 2,000 members took part in the revival services.
Bishop Shakespeare Tele, General Superintendent of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God, described the conference as impactful and timely, noting that it would propel the church to its next level of growth.
As part of his visit, Rev. Wengam donated seed money towards the establishment of a local church in Harare, in line with the MM33 agenda of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, which seeks to plant one million churches by 2033.
He also announced that the Cedar Mountain Chapel Assemblies of God at East Legon in Accra would partner with the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God to establish the new church.
