Sefwi-Wiawso (WN/R), Aug. 08, GNA – The Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Association (GARDJA), an organisation dedicated to reporting on the country’s environment, agriculture and rural development, has expressed its deepest sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash which claimed the lives of eight gallant Ghanaians in the Ashanti Region.

A statement issued by Mr Richmond Frimpong, the President of the Association, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the devastating loss had been felt deeply within communities in which they worked.

The statement said the Association was in deep shock, since the victims were reportedly engaged in duties critical to national development, as well as serving to defend the country’s forests, lands and rural stability.

“The deaths of these gallant personalities are not only a national tragedy but a profound loss to the ongoing efforts to protect the country’s environment and support vulnerable farming and rural communities.

“We therefore extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the military, and government institutions they served, as well as the entire nation,” the statement said.

The Association pledged to honour their memories by continuing to highlight the importance of the work for which they died doing and amplifying the stories of those who dedicated their lives to the country’s environment and rural development.
