Sunyani (Bono), July 30, GNA – Stakeholders at a public engagement have called for constitutional provision to bind successive governments to continue and complete physical development projects initiated by their predecessors.
They said the provision would not only improve the nation’s physical infrastructure development but prevent wastage and save the public purse.
The stakeholders made the recommendation when they took turns to share their views at the Ninth Zonal Public Engagement, organised by the 2025 Constitution Review Committee (CRC) at Sunyani in the Bono Region.
Mr Kofi Ansah, the Bono Regional President of the Association of the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), called for the need to ensure that public facilities were disability-friendly for easy access.
He expressed worry that most public buildings in the region were not disability friendly, making accessibility difficult for PwDs, and called for a constitution provision that would compel the various District Assemblies to capture the needs of the PwDs in the development process.
Mr George Yeboah, a member of the Association, reiterated the call for more to be done to guarantee decent employment for the PwDs, especially those who were graduates.
Earlier, Professor Henry. Kwasi Prempeh, the Chairman of the CRC, said the high turnout for the engagement was impressive turnout, saying “the people of Sunyani have truly demonstrated their commitment to an inclusive and participatory process”.
He said the committee would accordingly ensure that their respective views were captured in their reports.
The well attended engagement brought together a section of stakeholders comprising traditional leaders, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the business community, PwDs, academia, religious organisations and civil society actors. GNA
