Kumasi, July 17, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organized the third edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Students Excellence Awards (VCSEA25), with a call on students to keep distinguishing themselves in their special fields of studies and campus activities.

This year’s awards were categorized into 55 with over 80 students from the Kumasi and Obuasi campuses receiving awards.

The awards included Best Student Leader, Academic Excellence, Innovation, Entrepreneur, Media, Best College, Sports, Post-Graduates Exhibitions, All-Round Exemplary Student and Outstanding Academic Performance among others.

Winners were presented with plaques and medals embossed with their specific achievements.

The VCSEA 2025 was held under the theme “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Celebrating Students’ Excellence, Leadership and Service”.

Professor Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of the university, who made the call, said it was important to recognize students whose achievements had set them apart, to help motivate others to perform better.

She said the future of the world would be shaped by “leaders we nurture today” adding that, as a university, the aim was to empower students to be architects of change, lead with integrity, innovate with purpose and serve with compassion to make meaningful discourse.

Acknowledging the usefulness of students, the VC noted that students were the backbone of the university.

They give meaning to members of faculty mandates by keeping the laboratories, studios, and farms very active trying to solve real problems, she noted, adding that, the libraries were stocked up, shuttles very busy and every part of the school bustling with life.

Prof Dickson advised students to keep adding value to themselves by leveraging the available resources to impact the world.

It was students’ duty to ask challenging questions, which addressed real societal issues, she stated.
