Aburi (E/R), June 28, GNA – Oseadeeyor Kwesi Akuffo Foundation (OKWAF), in partnership with Books for Africa, USA-based nonprofit organization, has donated science and mathematics textbooks, storybooks, and computer tablets to students in Aburi to improve teaching and learning.
The presentation was done during a mini durbar organized by OKWAF at the forecourt of Omanhene Otobour Djan Kwesi’s palace in Aburi in the Akuapem South District of the eastern region.
During the durbar, Mr. Emmanuel Asa-Ntow, the Executive Director of OKWAF, explained that the books were not given out of mere benevolence of the Omanhene of Akuapem but to encouraged reading and interest in AI and engineering aspects among young school children.
“Knowledge is power,” he noted, urging parents, teachers, and students to seize that opportunity and make this phrase their guiding principle by prioritising education.

While reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to fulfilling the Okuapehene’s vision for educational development in the area, he encouraged parents, teachers, community members, and children to fully utilize the books and digital educational resources provided to begin reading.
He stated that the foundation would not rest until Okuapehene’s vision of developing education in the area became a reality.
He mentioned that several activities had been outlined to ensure that the donation reached every nook and cranny of the four zones where the foundation planned to distribute the books.
In addition to the books, five students were presented with computer tablets, an initiative meant to stir early interest in digital technologies and learning.

The Executive Director stated that these valuable devices were intended to facilitate and spark the students’ interest in AI and engineering.
He further advised the students to stay focused and avoid social vices, emphasizing that dedication to their studies was the only pathway to success in life. “Education is the most reliable route to the top.”
In a remark, Mrs. Esther Kddey, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the donation and encouraged the students to take full advantage of the gifted books and to read more, stressing; “this generation has no excuse to fail with so many resources now available.”
She also urged teachers and school authorities to safeguard the books and actively support students in cultivating the culture of reading.
Mrs. Kddey further called on corporate organizations, philanthropists, and individuals to invest in educational initiatives, programmes and activities within the district.
Several students, including the visibly elated beneficiaries Abraham Nii Noi and Simon Opare, voiced their joy upon receiving the materials.
“This feels like a dream,” said Nii Noi. “I never imagined owning a tablet, but thanks to OKWAF, my dream has come true. I’ll make the most of it to chase my goals.”
